Bridging the Gap - Days of Caring
Community Partner Award, Third Place: $5,000

The Philadelphia High School for Girls established the “Bridging the Gap - Days of Caring” project to connect with and support individuals from diverse communities. They established three unique partnerships: Widener Memorial School for students with disabilities, the Homeless Veterans Multi-Service Center for female veterans, and Community House Assisted Living. The project aimed to bridge the gap between generations and those facing unique challenges.

The students established strong relationships with each organization, providing support and laying the groundwork for future collaborations. Students developed empathy and adaptive skills by engaging with these diverse populations, and the beneficiaries felt respected, cared for, and seen. Bridging the Gap is set to have a lasting impact by promoting a culture of caring and inspiring a new generation of students to participate in ongoing community service efforts.
