“Enough”
Safer, Cleaner, Greener Award | Third Place: $5,000
Project ENOUGH at Boys’ Latin High School was dedicated to combating the epidemic of gun violence in Philadelphia. While city data from 2025 showed an encouraging decline in homicides from the previous year, local youth remain significantly impacted. In response, students took full ownership of the project, partnering with key advocacy and law enforcement leaders, including CeaseFirePA, Brady: United Against Gun Violence, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and Sheriff Rochelle Bilal, to gain a deep understanding of gun laws, trauma support, and safe storage methods. Driven by the core value of brotherhood and a desire to heal their community, the students dedicated their after-school hours, weekends, and spring break to becoming skilled project managers and designing a campaign focused on awareness, safety education, and positive conflict resolution.
The project achieved measurable success by blending direct community utility with engaging youth outreach. Through their $1,000 community improvement fund from PSA, students organized neighborhood tabling events where they distributed nearly 100 free gun locks and facilitated vital, personal dialogues about gun safety with residents. They also launched the first annual ENOUGH 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in partnership with Shoot Basketballs NOT People, creating a safe recreational space that drew 80 student athletes and over 100 community guests, earning media coverage from WHYY and The Philadelphia Tribune. For their exceptional leadership, participating students were pinned as honorary deputy sheriffs by Sheriff Bilal. Ultimately, Project ENOUGH established a sustainable legacy at Boys’ Latin, leaving behind a framework for future upperclassmen to champion violence prevention and equipping these young leaders with lifelong advocacy and project management skills.
