Mental Stability Kits
Innovation Award, Third Place: $5,000

Boys’ Latin developed the "Mental Stability Kits" project to address the significant issue of mental health in the community. Through a partnership with WURD Radio, the project created and distributed over 150 kits, exceeding its initial goal of 100. Each kit provides practical tools—including items like stress balls, mindfulness cards, and journals—to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and sensory overload. Beyond the practical tools, the resource kits provided resources for responding to crises, such as suicide and opioid overdose, by including Naloxone kits and lifeline information.

Beyond distributing physical kits, the project’s main goal was to normalize conversations about mental health and promote a culture of awareness and support. Weekly student sessions focused on coping strategies and emotional regulation, empowering students to have confident discussions with their peers and community members. Sessions also included Naloxone training for students, which equipped them with life-saving knowledge and skills. The project’s impact is visible in the increased confidence of students to talk openly about mental health, the expanded access to essential resources, and the creation of a more informed and supportive community. The students have not only helped others but have also become better equipped to manage their own mental well-being and support those around them.
